5D Global Enterprises was established in 2021 as an independent advisory firm to support mid-sized, owner-led organizations, corporate executives and boards of shareholders navigating the complexities of enterprise technology and digital risk. From the outset, we have maintained a strict focus on objective oversight and architecture‑led decisioning, ensuring our clients receive structured, pragmatic guidance, free from hype, product selection and implementation‑related conflicts of interest.
What sets us apart in what we deliver is that we are practitioners with hands-on experience of the issues facing owner-led and executive-directed organizations. We have proven, real-world mechanisms to address these challenges.

The firm is led by Clyde Briell, who has held CEO, CIO, and CTO leadership roles in large and mid-sized corporates across several verticals.
He has guided 5D Global in our advisory roles across numerous enterprise technologies, systems architectures, and governance‑focused consulting engagements.
His experience includes advising executive teams and boards on architecture‑led decision‑making, technology risk, and delivery governance in complex, multi‑stakeholder environments. His experience informs 5D Global’s emphasis on independent judgment, architectural clarity, and decision restraint—particularly where technology commitments carry long‑term financial, operational, or reputational consequences.
the meaning inside our name
A key ingredient to our secret sauce is visible in our name. The "5D" refers to the five phases of solutions evolution.
These are DISCOVER, DEFINE, DESIGN, DEVELOP and DEPLOY.
Our execution method encapsulates being guided by these five "D's". We work with agility, inside an overarching framework that is deliberately waterfall in its nature. The governance of our methods is as light or expansive as the complexity of the projects necessitate, but the essence of our global 5D approach that is embedded in our "secret sauce" is never absent from our recipe for success.
Our overarching waterfall at the macro level provides greater certainty of direction, delivery, timeframes, and costs. This is possible because of the upfront attention to scope management and architecturally defining the solution landscape. Our agility comes into play in the development and deployment of modular features sets, phased over time, bringing early benefits and progressive enhancements.
To complete the picture, let's briefly explain what these five "D's" are:
DISCOVER:
This is all about ideation, scoping, and framing the context. Understanding what sits inside the frame of reference, what sits outside, and what overlaps with bearing on the outcome. It is vital to pay sufficient attention to this phase, because the positive or negative impact of decisions taken here impacts greatly on the appropriateness and efficacy of all the subsequent phases.
DEFINE:
Here we narrow the lens. We move from the art of the possible to the science of the tangible. We add pragmatism and achievability. We assess and plan to mitigate risks, we optimize and refine the scope of our effort, and we contextualize and time-box what is to be achieved. We stay focused on our current scope, being mindful of the macro context of what sits around us in the surrounding landscape, and we timebox what needs to be deferred to possible future phases.
DESIGN:
Having a definitive frame of reference from our Discover and Define phases makes Design more achievable. This is the high level architecture, adding detailed nuggets on vital elements, and the specifics on mandatory requirements. This is supplied both for the solutions architecture and the project architecture. We design both what will be done, as well as how it will be achieved.
DEVELOP:
Our development is creating what has been Discovered, Defined and Designed, bringing it to fruition. This can take the form of changing and modifying existing solutions, replacing what's there, or configuring, building, and developing new solutions. Our methods are situationally adjusted to meet the exact nature of the project. There is never a one-size-fits-all method of execution, but there is always a guiding template that can be applied and customized to meet the specific needs of the moment.
DEPLOY:
Mobilizing built solutions into live environments requires careful and detailed attention. We take care with user acceptance testing, transformation of business practice, the technicalities of releasing change, and incremental ongoing change, phased over longer periods of time.
We believe in executing projects with a structured, phased approach. Long-running interventions can be executed with iteration. We typically bundle feature sets for delivery that cohesively satisfy defined user stories. Our solutions are therefore developed and deployed in a modular manner, the sequencing of which is governed within our agile project management philosophy.
